Menace from the Deep is an expansion for the strategy game XCOM Terror from the Deep the sequel to the original XCOM UFO Defense. Set in the year 2040 this installment shifts the action from outer space to the depths of Earth’s oceans, where a new alien threat emerges. Players once again take on the role of the elite X-COM force tasked with defending the planet from hostile extraterrestrials. However this time, the enemies base of operations is located beneath the ocean’s surface introducing new challenges and environments for players to navigate.

The story of Menace from the Deep revolves around the discovery of a mysterious alien force that has risen from the depths of the ocean. These hostile beings known as the “Deep Ones” are far more adaptable and dangerous than their predecessors, with advanced underwater technology & new array of weapons. As the X-COM forces investigate and battle these underwater threats they uncover a deep conspiracy involving ancient alien civilizations and the impending danger they pose to humanity’s future. Gameplay in Menace from the Deep introduces several new mechanics and features including underwater combat new alien species, and the need to manage resources more effectively in the harsh deep-sea environment. Players must research new technologies develop specialized equipment and build submerged bases to combat the alien threat.
